Give to Africa started as a Facebook group, teaching African nonprofit and NGO leaders how to fundraise and use Giving Tuesday to share their stories. What began as small peer-learning sessions grew into a virtual community of grassroots changemakers across the continent.
Encouraged by Google Women Techmakers, we were inspired to think bigger: what if technology could unlock generosity and empower African communities beyond government aid? That year, we began training community leaders on how to fundraise, mobilize local support, and lead change from within their own communities.
Give to Africa became officially registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in California. Our mission was launched: to unleash generosity so African communities can grow stronger, more self-sustaining, and filled with hope. Early partnerships were formed with grassroots NGOs in Nigeria, Kenya, and Cameroon. Planning began for a digital fundraising and storytelling platform tailored to African-led nonprofits.
Growth accelerated as we moved from concept to action. The Frontline Fund Campaign launched, channeling donations directly to grassroots organizations. Over 200 NGOs partnered with Give to Africa across 35+ African countries. Applications to global accelerators and philanthropy networks expanded our visibility and partnerships.
Today, Give to Africa continues to scale its reach and impact. Launching Give to Africa Incorporation, a Public Benefit Corporation, to build digital solutions for NGOs. Expanding fiscal sponsorship, project investment, fundraising platform, and education programs to empower communities continent-wide. Working toward a future where millions of Africans can access resources, visibility, and dignity through generosity.
From a Facebook group to a global platform, Give to Africa shows that small beginnings can spark lasting change. Together, we are restoring dignity and strengthening communities across Africa.
