Honoring Local Power. Strengthening Community‑Led Change.

Our Journey

Our mission begins with a belief we hold deeply: African communities already have the wisdom, strength, and solutions needed to shape their own future. What they often lack is access to the resources, visibility, and partnerships that allow their work to grow.

Our History

Give to Africa was born from years of experience working with nonprofit organizations across Africa, Europe, and the United States.

Our founder, Victoria M. Philips, spent much of her career in international fundraising and nonprofit development. Through her work with global nonprofits and community organizations, she saw how fundraising systems operate in different parts of the world.

When she returned to work more closely with organizations across Africa, one challenge became clear.
Many small and grassroots African nonprofits were doing remarkable work in their communities — yet most international funding was directed toward large global NGOs. Local organizations often depended on a small group of supporters, board members, or occasional foreign grants to sustain their programs.

Despite their impact, many of these organizations lacked access to the global networks and fundraising infrastructure that could help them grow

The Problem We Are Solving

Across Africa, thousands of grassroots nonprofits and community organizations are working every day to address some of the most pressing challenges facing their communities.
These organizations are building schools, improving access to clean water, empowering women entrepreneurs, supporting youth, and protecting the environment.

Yet many of these organizations struggle to access funding.
International philanthropy often flows through large global NGOs, while smaller local organizations remain underfunded despite their deep understanding of community needs.

At the same time, many African nonprofit leaders face cultural barriers to fundraising. In many communities, there is a strong belief that organizations should solve problems internally rather than “beg” for support, which makes fundraising practices different from those used in Western nonprofit systems.

As a result, many impactful organizations rely heavily on limited grants or foreign aid, which can sometimes restrict innovation and long-term sustainability.
This gap creates a major challenge:
Communities with powerful solutions often lack the resources needed to scale their impact.

Why Give to Africa Exists

Give to Africa was created to help bridge the gap between global generosity and local leadership.
Our platform helps donors, foundations, and institutions discover and support trusted African nonprofits and grassroots initiatives that are already making a difference in their communities.
Through fiscal sponsorship, partnerships, and digital fundraising tools, Give to Africa helps organizations gain:

Access to international funding opportunities
Increased global visibility
Support for building stronger nonprofit infrastructure
Opportunities to collaborate with global partners

By strengthening local organizations, Give to Africa helps ensure that philanthropy in Africa supports community-driven solutions rather than top-down development models.
Our mission is simple:
To unleash generosity so African communities can grow stronger, more self-sustaining, and filled with hope.
Because when local leaders have the resources they need, they create solutions that transform communities for generations.
